There is scarcely anything in goal post manufacture that someone cannot make a little worse and sell a little more cheaply.
Do not become their lawful prey.

Environmental Policy

"Save the planet, it’s the only one in the solar system that plays football "

As a long established and responsible company we aspire to lead the way in environmentally friendly goalpost processes and sustainable business development in order to not only meet the needs of the present, but also future generations.  We no longer produce glossy product brochures on football Goals that use valuable resources. We feel that our customers do not need information on tennis, cricket, hockey or Rugby posts when they are sourcing and looking to buy football goal posts . Specific information on the types of football goals is all they need.

A paperless electronic system will allow for printable single sheets to downloaded on any  goal posts we make for perusal. In the short term we know this may reduce our  sales but we feel the sacrifice is worthwhile.  Some one in every industry has to lead the way and make the first move, we hope others will eventually follow and see the sense in what we are doing. Invoicing is also sent electronically where possible. Paper waste is reducing year on year and any paper that is discarded is shredded and used in our own packaging or recycled.

Environmentally friendly production:

One of the most up to date and informed goal post companies in the U.K with regard to the impact of manufacture on the environment.  We are working steadfastly towards ISO 14001 to mitigate the impact on the environment by the company.

Furthermore, we aim to meet the criteria once it has been formalized by the European Commission in order to comply with future 'Sustainable Public Procurement Rules', so local authorities can rest assured they are purchasing from a company that is adhering to the current government's policy on sustainable development.

We predominantly produce uPVC in recycled material and offer a service for customers to return any goal post tubing and fittings for recycling. Green waste is collected from our seven acre sports ground and is naturally composted in an aerated pile, this includes food wastes from the staff canteen, excluding meat and also an amount of brown cardboard. The resultant compost is used on site. By reducing food and green wastes within our regular collection, less leach-ate is formed within landfill and also less methane a potent greenhouse gas.

All our waste is separated with steel and aluminum  purchased in the U.K. and recycled locally.  Our goalpost designs are such that waste of raw materials is kept to a minimum. (less than 2%)

The majority of electric light switches in our premises are on sensors that automatically turn the lights off when they are not needed. All electrical fuse boards are on timers that are only live in working hours.  All computers are switched off after use. (this single measure equates to the energy required to print 800 sheets of A4 paper) All our rooms are thermostatically controlled and roof areas have additional insulation fitted.  Recently we have installed a 'SMART METER' ; this advanced meter records a business' electricity consumption in greater detail than a conventional meter.  Furthermore, the energy supplied by Opus Energy came from cleaner , low carbon sources : '47% from renewable generators and 19% from cleaner CHP(combined heat and power) generators.'.

We have invested in web sites that provide much more detailed information than the basic picture and price web sites that others use. Customers  can  see videos and numerous photographs to help evaluate products.

Environmental changes can be cost effective and we try where ever possible to use environmentally friendly recycled packaging and manufacture products that last and are reusable at the end of their life. Our products, unlike others, are not throw away items as they  can last many years (see customer comments). Some of our uPVC football goals are over twenty years old. We provide  a next day spare parts service for all our goal posts to guarantee long lasting performance.

Staff use shared vehicles to reduce pollution and it is company policy to encourage the use of public transport.  We continually monitor our environmental performance in an effort to reduce our carbon footprint and help to slow the trend of global warming.

We have now started the facebook campaign "Made in the Far East buried in Britain" To encourage customers to think twice before they buy  cheap rubbish, especially football goals. If they are unlucky enough to buy such products we ask that they post on facebook/twitter an accurate review  to help prevent others from doing the same thing. Return poor products and demand a refund as this is the only way to stop inferior  goal posts being imported into the UK.  Help stop the expansion of landfill sites in the U.K.
